Video instructions for connecting to BW_Jacket

Step by step instructions

1. Download the Cisco UDN App

2. Turn off private address and connect to BW_Guest

Mobile devices must turn off the Private Address option on BW_Guest before successfully connecting.

Search your mobile device for available networks. Locate BW_Guest.

Touch the information icon (i) next to BW_Guest.

Touch the Private Address switch to true off the option.

IMPORTANT: Your device MUST be connected to the BW_Guest network before using the Cisco UDN app.

IMPORTANT

It is important to enable location (📍) services for the Cisco UDN app.

It is also important that you enable notifications (🔔) from the Cisco UDN app.

BW_Jacket is your own private wireless network. It is important that the Cisco UDN app has access to your location and can send you notifications to ensure a secure and reliable wireless experience.

3. Sign in to Cisco UDN

Enter your Baldwin Wallace Email Address in the space labeled Email.

Touch the Next button when you are finished.

IMPORTANT

The Cisco UDN app is going to connect to cisco.com which will redirect you to the Baldwin Wallace University Signgle Sign-On Page.

Touch Continue to continue setting up your devices.

4. Sign in to Baldwin Wallace

Enter your Baldwin Wallace Email Address in the space labeled username. Enter your Baldwin Wallace Password in the space labeled Password.

Touch the Sign in button when you are finished.

5. Add a device to your UDN

You can add any wireless to your Cisco UDN. (Mobile Phones, Tablets, Laptops, Gaming Consoles, Televisions, Streaming Devices, even Printers)

Touch the Plus (+) sign in the upper-right corner to begin.

Enter your device details

Select the type of device you would like added to your UDN.

Provide an identifiable name for the device you are adding to your UDN by typing the name in the Device Name field.

Enter the MAC Address of the device you are adding to your UDN in the field labeled MAC Address.

6. Select the device type

Touch the Device Type field or tap Other

Select your device from the list provided.

Touch the dot next to you device type you intend to add to your UDN.

Touch the back arrow after making your selection.

7. Give your device a name

Enter the name for the device you are adding to your UDN.

8. Enter the MAC Address

Check with your device manufacturer to locate the MAC Address or check below to see of your device is listed.

IMPORTANT

Mobile device users must turn off the Private MAC Address option.

You will need to register the device's true MAC Address to successfully connect to BW_Jacket.

Check with the manufacturer of your device for instructions for disabling the Private MAC Address.

What is a MAC Address

Every device has a Media Access Control (MAC) number which is used to identify it to other devices on a network.

Select from the items below to find the MAC Address of a device you want to add to your Cisco UDN.

How To find the MAC address in Windows 10:


  1. 1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt from the menu
  2. 2. Type in "ipconfig /all" and press Enter. Your network configurations will display
  3. 3. Scroll down to your Wireless LAN adapter and look for the values next to "Physical Address," which is your MAC address

How To find the MAC address in Windows 8:


  1. 1. Press the Windows Start key to open the Start Menu
  2. 2. In the search box, type "cmd" and press enter
  3. 3. In the Command Prompt type "ipconfig /all" and press enter
  4. 4. The MAC address will be listed next to "Physical Address"

How To find the MAC address in Windows 7:


  1. 1. Open the Windows Command Prompt by clicking on the start menu and typing "cmd" in the search box and pressing enter
  2. 2. In the Command Prompt, type "getmac" and press enter
  3. 3. The MAC address will be listed under "Physical Address"

How To find the MAC address in Mac OS:


  • 1. Open System Preferences
  • 2. Select Network
  • 3. In the left-hand pane, select the name of the network to which you are currently connected
  • 4. Click Advanced in the lower right corner
  • 5. At the bottom of the windows, the device's MAC address will be listed next to "Wi-Fi address"
  • How To find the MAC address on your Chromebook:


    1. 1. ​Turn on your Chromebook.
    2. 2. Click the status area, where your account picture appears
    3. 3. Click the section that says Connected to and the name of your network
    4. 4. At the top of the box that appears, pick your network
    5. 5. In the window that opens, the MAC address is the Hardware address

    How To find the MAC address on your iOS device:


    1. 1. From the Settings menu, select General
    2. 2. Tap About
    3. 3. Scroll down to Wi-Fi Address. The MAC address will be listed here.

    How To find the MAC address on your Android device:


    1. 1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key and go to your Settings
    2. 2. Select "About Phone" or "About Tablet"
    3. 3. Select Status
    4. 4. The device's MAC address will be listed next to "Wi-Fi MAC address"

    How To find the MAC address on your Amazon Fire Stick:


    1. 1. Navigate to Settings
    2. 2. Select Device
    3. 3. Select About
    4. 4. Hover over "Network"
    5. The values will be listed on the right side of the screen under the following headings:

      • • MAC Address (Wi-Fi):
      • • IP Address:


    How to find the MAC addres on your Apple TV


    1. 1. Navigate to Settings
    2. 2. Click General
    3. 3. Click About
    4. The MAC address will be labeled Wi-Fi Address


    How to find the MAC address on your Chromecast device


    1. 1. Open the Google Home app
    2. 2. Tap your Chromecast device Settings Device information
    3. 3. Under "Technical information," check your MAC address

    How to locate the MAC address on your Roku device


    Tip: Some Roku models have the MAC address printed on the bottom of the physical device.
    1. 1. From the Home screen, select “Settings“.
    2. 2. Choose “Network“. On some models, you may need to select “System“. (For older versions, skip this step.)
    3. 3. Select “About“.
    4. 4. The “Wireless MAC address” will be displayed on the right side of the screen along with other network connection information. If you use a wired connection, you’ll be interested in the “Ethernet MAC address“.

    How To find the MAC address on your Nintendo Switch:


    1. 1. Select System Settings from the home screen
    2. 2. Select Internet
    3. 3. Your System MAC Address should be displayed on this screen
    4. 4. If the System MAC Address is not displayed on this screen, select Internet Settings
    5. 5. Scroll to the bottom and note the System MAC Address

    To find the MAC address on your PlayStation 3 (PS3):


    1. 1. From the Home menu, scroll to Settings
    2. 2. Select System Settings under Settings menu
    3. 3. Select System Information
    4. 4. The wireless MAC address should be listed

    To find the MAC Address on your PlayStation 4 (PS4):

    1. 1. Locate the Settings icon on your Dashboard toolbar
    2. 2. Select the System icon from the list
    3. 3. Choose System Information from the toolbar
    4. 4. You should see your console's wireless MAC address

    To find the MAC Address on your Playstation 5 (PS5):

    1. 1. From the home screen, select the gear icon (settings) in the upper right
    2. 2. Select System
    3. 3. Select Console Information
    4. 4. Note the MAC address (Wi-Fi) displayed at the bottom of the list

    To find the MAC address on your Xbox 360 follow these steps:


    1. 1. Open System Settings on the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings
    2. 2. Confirm your network's connected status
    3. 3. To view the MAC address, select the available network you wish to use
    4. 4. Select Configure Network
    5. 5. Select the Additional Settings tab
    6. 6. Scroll down and select Advanced Settings
    7. 7. The MAC address displays under "Wireless MAC"

    To find the MAC Address on your Xbox One follow these steps:

    1. 1. Navigate to the Settings page
    2. 2. Select Network
    3. 3. Select Advanced Settings
    4. 4. MAC address will be listed next to "Wireless MAC" on the right hand side of the screen (this is also where the IP address and other information is located)
    5. 5. Log in to your account and click "My Devices" Add Device"
    6. 6. Add your device by typing in your Xbox One's MAC Address and saving

    10. Complete your device entry

    Once you have entered the MAC Address of your device, touch Next to finish adding your device to your UDN.

    Your device is added

    All devices you add to your UDN will appear in your room.

    11. Connect to BW_Jacket

    All devices that are added to your room in UDN can access BW_Jacket.

    Search for BW_Jacket in the WiFi settings on your device.

    Touch the information icon (i) next to the BW_Jacket.


    NOTICE: The BW_Jacket may be labeled as an Unsecure Network. This is due to the fact that the device is connected through the MAC Address and not signed in with a passphrase. Registering with a MAC Address is a more secure way to connect and use the BW WiFi Network.

    Turn off Private Address

    Mobile devices must turn off the Private Address option on BW_Jacket before successfully connecting.

    ...

    Forget BW_Guest

    Disconnect and forget the BW_Guest network. The BW_Guest network was only needed to connect your phone, please use the BW_Jacket network for everything including adding more devices.

    Add another devices

    To add another device, click here to return to step 5.
