The first step in taking a course at another institution is to determine how the course will transfer to BW using the Transfer Equivalency Guide / Transfer Course Search. Then, complete BW’s Transient Student Permit. The transient student permit is found online in BW’s Forms Central (Etrieve) by logging into JacketConnect and navigating to All Campus Applications > Forms Central (powered by Etrieve) > Forms > Registration & Records.
If the course you are looking for isn’t in our transfer equivalency guide, it could still transfer. The course must be reviewed by the university; you will need to obtain the course description or syllabus and attach it to BW’s Transient Student Permit.
If the permit is approved, you will need to apply for admission at the other institution as a visiting (or transient) student and provide your approved Transient Student Permit to register for the course(s) at the other institution.
Students must make their own arrangements with the other institution to fulfill financial obligations at that institution. Additionally, if a student would like to utilize their financial aid eligibility, they must be registered at Baldwin Wallace University at least half-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students) and complete BW’s Transient Financial Aid Consortium Agreement. *Exception: undergraduate students who are eligible for a Pell Grant do not need to be enrolled on a half-time basis at BW in order to receive federal/state financial aid as a transient student. The Transient Financial Aid Consortium Agreement is located on BW’s Financial Services Forms webpage.
Lastly, to receive credit for the transient course(s), students must send an official transcript for the completed and graded course(s) from the other institution to BW.
